The World Evangelical Congregational Fellowship (WECF) grew out of an international invitation extended by the CCCC to leaders of other Congregational bodies in Australia, Great Britain, and Micronesia to attend the CCCC Annual Meeting in 1983. It was agreed that the ties between evangelical Congregationalists from around the world should be strengthened and that there needed to be a means by which effective communication and joint ministries could be carried out. The formation of an international evangelical Congregational union was proposed and became officially organized at its inaugural in England on October 15-18, 1986. The purpose of the Fellowship is:
- To promote fellowship and cooperative endeavour in the faith, polity and work of evangelical Congregational associations and churches throughout the world.
- To preserve the historic Congregational commitment to the Lordship of Christ and the infallibility of His Word, and
- To present to the world a witness to our oneness in Christ as evangelical Congregationalists.
As founding members our CCCC leaders have served in a variety of capacities. Rev. Cliff Christensen served as the first President of WECF, an office Rev. Barry Jones now holds, and Rev. Dr. Stephen Gammon is presently Secretary/Treasurer. The membership is made up of evangelical Congregational bodies from fourteen different countries.
