Thanks for checking out the Church Redevelopment vision of the CCCC! My name is John Kimball, and I'm the Director of Conference Care and Church Redevelopment for the Conference. I've spent over 20 years in local church ministry, living out the very principles we are now promoting nationwide. With the assistance of my team, the CCCC Redevelopment Committee, we are slowly replicating this work so that it will eventually impact local churches and regional fellowships in all 29 of our Regions across the country.
It Takes a Healthy Family If ever there was a time when America and the world needed healthy, relevant, vibrant churches, it's today! God desires churches that are at peace within and passionate about touching lives out in the community. He desires churches that not only exemplify Jesus in the words that they preach, but also in the service that they render to the lost, the broken and the rejected. He desires churches that are not satisfied by filling heads with biblical knowledge, but who also teach their members to apply that knowledge so that it changes their lives, their relationships and their worldview. In an era where individualism and self-centeredness abound, a faith community has a lot to offer. But those in our world will not be drawn to a church family that is marked by strife, unforgiveness, hypocrisy, prayerlessness, and the like. Jesus came in grace and truth -- and if we don't demonstrate that to the world, the world will not be interested in what we say we have to offer. The power of the gospel must be real and evident in us first. The Goal: Multiplying God's Kingdom Church Redevelopment is a priority within the CCCC because the advancement of God's kingdom depends upon healthy churches. If local church revitalization is sought simply to "fix" what ails the congregation, we have missed the point entirely. Redevelopment focuses not only on the local church, but beyond it. The church is not an organization, but an organism -- and healthy organisms multiply. In the CCCC, we believe that is by God's design. This multiplication happens in several ways: - Sheep beget sheep - healthy churches will grow, and the bulk of their growth is from people expressing faith in the risen Christ because of what He is doing through that church's ministry. Regardless of the church's tradition, they authentically and regularly add souls to God's kingdom.
- Churches beget churches - healthy churches multiply through church planting. That may be through a mother church-daughter church relationship, a group effort with other churches, or any number of other models, but the church actively participates in establishing new families of faith wherever God leads.
- Healthy churches mentor ailing churches - healthy churches come alongside churches that may be struggling to help them move toward healthy, fruit-bearing ministry. Such sister-church relationships are critical and nearly always bolster the local ministries of all churches involved.
The CCCC is committed to planting new churches wherever the Lord leads; however, we are equally committed to equipping and revitalizing existing churches. We believe that both are absolutely essential. To put one against the other is not only counter productive, but it is unbiblical. The kingdom of God expands as healthy churches impact their respective communities with the gospel, and work together to plant new churches with that healthy "DNA." |
